Audio of Calle de la Fortaleza in Old San Juan.
Calle de la Fortaleza is named after the residence of Puerto Rico's governors, located at the beginning of the street. This structure, known colonially as the Palacio de Santa Catalina de Alejandría, still preserves traditions and architecture from the Spanish colonial era. Recently, since the demonstrations of the Puerto Rican population in 2019, this street is better known as Calle de la Resistencia. To this day, it continues to be one of the main places where the people of Puerto Rico go to demonstrate and demand a better country.
